Unmothering the Woman (UTW) is a feminist storytelling movement working to break the stereotypes that societies impose on women. UTW had been sharing women’s stories through social media, but needed to scale into a full platform hosting blogs, podcasts, videos, resources on topics like divorce, co-parenting, and mothering in prison, and event registration — all in one place.
Social media capped what the movement could do. Stories lived in feeds rather than an archive, resources had nowhere permanent to sit, and followers had no single place to register for events.
BC Afrika handled the UI design and brought Visualsnare in to build it. Visualsnare built the platform to host multi-format storytelling alongside a dedicated resources section and integrated event registration. The architecture was structured so UTW’s team could grow the archive and add new topics over time without engineering support.
